The Garmin Varia RearVue 820 Taillight is a rearview radar and taillight designed to enhance your visibility and safety while cycling. It pairs with your Edge bike computer, other Garmin devices, or compatible smartphones to alert you of vehicles approaching from behind up to 153 yards (140 meters) away. When connected to a smartphone, the Varia app provides vibration alerts and other notifications to increase your awareness.
The taillight offers daylight visibility up to 1 mile, helping motorists see you from a distance. It features a compact vertical design that fits most road-use bicycles and supports Peloton mode, which emits a low-intensity flash to minimize disturbance to other riders when cycling in a group.
With four modes available, the light delivers up to 100 lumens, including 25 lumens on solid mode, 8 lumens in Peloton mode, 40 lumens on night flash, and 100 lumens on day flash. Battery life lasts up to 24 hours in daylight flash mode and up to 10 hours on steady mode. The unit is rechargeable and weighs 90 grams. It is also compatible with the Varia seat rail mount kit, sold separately.
