Description
The Park Tool BBT-179 is a steel bottom bracket socket designed for removal and installation of threaded bottom brackets with 12-notch fittings. It fits major diameters between 45 and 47mm, and a minor diameter of 44mm. This tool is compatible with SRAM BSA DUB, Race Face Cinch, Rotor BSA30, Zipp Vuma, Hawk Racing BB3086, and other similar models used in road, gravel, and mountain drivetrains.
Made from precision-machined 4140 steel, the BBT-179 features an extra-deep body to clear wide spindles and low-profile walls that reach recessed lockrings often missed by shallower tools. It offers three drive options: a 3/8″ drive fitting, a 1″ hex fitting, and 36mm wrench flats, allowing it to handle even the most seized bottom bracket cups.
The tool includes integrated threads that accept the Park Tool BBT-RS Bottom Bracket Tool Retaining System or GPS-1 Guide Pins (sold separately) for improved alignment and stability during use. It is not rated for use with impact drivers.
