Description
The Spank SPANK SPIKE 369 Rear Wheel features a 32-hole, 27.5″ rim with 148mm Boost spacing and a Shimano HG freehub. It is hand-built to A-Class specifications and laced to the SPANK HEX Drive Hub, which offers a 102-tooth, 6-pawl ratchet system providing 3.5 degrees of engagement for quick engagement.
The wheel incorporates Spank’s Sacred Geometry hollow bead wall design, enhancing both lateral and vertical strength while reducing pinch flats and increasing impact resistance. With a 19mm profile height and a 30.5mm inner rim width, it balances radial compliance and lateral stiffness to improve traction, handling, and comfort. The rim width fits tire sizes from 2.0″ to 2.6″ and supports wider plus-size tires without adversely affecting tire profile.
Bead Bite tubeless hooks improve tubeless setup performance and help maintain tire security at lower pressures. The wheel includes a 6-bolt disc mount and is built with triple-butted J-hook spokes and brass external nipples, using a 3-cross lacing pattern. It comes tubeless taped and valved with a Presta valve.
The hub is CNC-forged alloy with an alloy axle and freehub body. This rear wheel weighs approximately 1123 grams (for the 27.5″, 12×148 Boost HG model). It is compatible with various Shimano HG freehubs and is recommended for all-mountain, trail, enduro, freeride, downhill, gravel, cross-country, and e-bike use (when adapted with the appropriate SPANK HEX DRIVE steel freehub).
Compatible service parts include replacement bearing kits, alloy axle shafts (various sizes), and freehubs in HG, XD, and Microspline standards. Rear adapters are available for Boost 148mm and standard QR 135/141 hubs.
