Description
The Spank SPANK SPIKE 369 Vibrocore Rear Wheel features a 32-hole, 29″ rim with a 148mm Boost XD hub spacing. It is hand-built to A-Class specifications using a radially compliant alloy rim injected with Vibrocore, which enhances torsional strength and lateral stiffness for a smooth, responsive ride. The rim has a 19mm profile height, 30.5mm inner width, and 35mm outer width, fitting tires from 2.0″ to 2.6″ and allowing for larger sizes without causing tire profile squaring.
The wheel is laced to the SPANK HEX Drive Hub with a 102-tooth, 6-pawl ratchet mechanism providing 3.5 degrees of engagement for near-instant power transfer. The hub body is CNC optimized forged alloy with an alloy axle and freehub body, featuring a 6-bolt disc mount. Spokes are J-hook, triple-butted (2.2/1.8/2.0 mm), laced 3-cross with brass external nipples. The wheel is tubeless taped and includes a Presta valve.
The rim employs Sacred Geometry hollow bead wall design to improve lateral and vertical strength, wider bead walls to reduce pinch flats, and Vibrocore inner well to reduce vibration transmission, enhancing comfort and durability. Bead Bite tubeless hooks improve tire security at lower pressures. This rear wheel is suitable for ASTM 5 classifications including All Mountain, Trail, Enduro, Freeride, Downhill, Gravel, XC, and E-Bike use (with compatible SPANK HEX DRIVE steel freehub available separately).
Compatible freehub standards include XD, Shimano HG, and Microspline (with Micro Spine freehubs available). The hub spacing is BOOST 148mm with XD freehub body for this model. It weighs approximately 1259 grams and has an Effective Rim Diameter (ERD) of 598mm.
Adapters for different axle configurations and service kits for maintenance are also available.
