Description
The Spank SPIKE Race 33 Rear Wheel is designed for high-performance freeride, enduro, and downhill racing. It features a 32-hole alloy rim with an inner width of 28mm and an outer width of 33mm, optimized to improve tire spread and increase traction. The tubeless-ready rim includes anti-burp hooks to maintain tire pressure and keep tires securely in place.
The rim center is corrugated for added strength and rigidity, allowing a wider profile without extra material. A shot peen finish enhances durability and extends the wheel’s fatigue life.
This 27.5″ rear wheel is built with Spank’s HEX J-Type handbuilt hub, which uses a 102-tooth HEX Drive engagement system with 3.5 engagement angle and six pawls. Spokes are triple-butted J-Hook (2.2/1.8/2.0mm) paired with brass external nipples, arranged in a 3-cross lacing pattern. The wheel comes tubeless taped and valved with a Presta valve, supporting tire sizes from 1.9″ to 2.5″.
The wheel is compatible with 142mm and 135mm hub spacing and fits Shimano HG freehubs. Various configurations are available, including factory standards in XD and Shimano HG, with Micro Spline freehubs also offered. Compatible rear adapters and service kits are available for maintenance and customization.
This rear wheel suits all mountain trail, enduro, freeride, and downhill riding, and is recommended for e-bikes when paired with the appropriate Spank HEX Drive steel freehub (sold separately).
