Description
The Spank SPIKE Race 33 Rear Wheel is designed for high-performance use in freeride, enduro, and downhill racing. It features a tubeless-ready alloy rim with anti-burp rim hooks to maintain tire pressure and secure tire placement. The rim has 32 holes, with an inner width of 28mm and an outer width of 33mm to optimize tire spread and improve traction. Its corrugated rim center adds strength and rigidity without extra material, and a shot peen finish enhances durability and fatigue life.
This 29″ rear wheel is built around the Spank HEX J-TYPE hub with 148mm Boost spacing and an XD freehub body. It is handbuilt using J-hook, triple-butted spokes and brass external nipples, laced in a 3-cross pattern. The wheel comes tubeless taped and equipped with a Presta valve. The hub features a HEX DRIVE engagement system with 102 points of engagement using 6 pawls, and a CNC optimized forged alloy hub body, axle, and freehub body.
The rim profile height is 22mm, suitable for tires ranging from 1.9″ to 2.5″ wide. It is compatible with various rear adapters and service kits, including options for HG, XD, and MicroSpline freehubs.
This wheel is classified for use in ASTM level 5 riding conditions and recommended for all-mountain, trail, enduro, freeride, and downhill disciplines. It is also suitable for e-bike use when paired with the SPANK HEX DRIVE steel freehub (sold separately).
