Description
The Surly Steamroller Frameset is a special-edition steel frame celebrating 20 years of the Blue Lug bike shop in Japan, featuring paint and graphics designed in collaboration with the Blue Lug crew. This 49cm frameset has a road bike geometry combined with track bike features, including 120mm rear spacing, track-legal bottom bracket height, and compatibility with track cranks.
Made from 100% Surly 4130 chromoly steel, the frame and fork are double-butted and TIG-welded. The 1-1/8″ threadless chromoly steel fork is brazed and includes drilled fork and seatstay bridges for mid-reach caliper brakes (47-57mm). It also has brake cable stops for cleaner rear brake routing.
The frame accommodates 700c wheels with up to 38mm tire clearance without fenders (32mm with fenders) and includes one bottle cage mount. It features a powder-coated, E.D. coated finish for durability and rust resistance. The frame uses quick-release axles, with a 120mm rear and 100mm front spacing, and is designed for rim brakes. Available in the “Frank or Beans” brown color option.
