The Berd PolyLight 14g Spoke is a lightweight cycling spoke designed to reduce wheelset weight by 100 to 200 grams compared to carbon rims, offering a more affordable option for building lighter wheels. Made with PolyLight polymer technology, it combines strength and fatigue resistance superior to many other spokes. The spoke features a 1.8mm cross section for better aerodynamics and a custom coating to enhance abrasion resistance. The 14 gauge stainless steel threaded section measures 2.0mm in diameter and includes a flat section to prevent twisting during installation. It has an integral eyelet compatible with both J-bend and straight pull hubs. This spoke is white, 268mm in length, and sold individually. Double square locking nipples are recommended (sold separately, part # DT647 or PM78470). Assembly requires the Berd Supplemental Kit BO2924, which contains eyelet rods, an eyelet hook, and a hub deburring tool (one kit needed per wheelset). Because Berd spokes have unique lengths, use the Berd-specific spoke length when building wheels. This is a special order item, typically available within 1 to 2 weeks depending on lead times.
