Description
The Berd PolyLight 14g Spoke is a white, 274mm spoke designed for building lighter wheels at a lower total build cost. Made with PolyLight polymer technology, it is one of the lightest spokes available, saving 100 to 200 grams per wheelset. It features a 1.8mm cross section for improved aerodynamics and has a custom coating that increases abrasion resistance.
The spoke includes a 14 gauge (2.0mm) stainless threaded connection at the rim with a flat section to prevent twisting when tightened using a special tool. It has an integral eyelet for connection to J-bend or straight pull hubs and is compatible with all standard hub and rim connections. The spoke can be trued and maintained like steel spokes and offers greater strength and fatigue resistance than most spokes on the market. It also improves damping of road and trail vibrations for a smoother ride.
Weight for 64 spokes at 260mm is 156 grams. The spoke is sold individually. Double square locking nipples (not included) are recommended, using parts #DT647 or PM78470. Assembly requires the Berd Supplemental Kit BO2924, which includes eyelet rods, eyelet hook, and hub deburring tool (one kit per wheelset).
