Description
The Berd PolyLight 14g Spoke is a 286mm white spoke sold individually. It features PolyLight polymer technology, making it one of the lightest spokes available and reducing wheelset weight by 100 to 200 grams compared to carbon rims. The spoke has a 1.8mm cross section for improved aerodynamics and includes a 14 gauge (2.0mm) stainless steel threaded connection at the rim, which has a flat section to prevent twisting during installation. It also has an integral eyelet for connecting to J-bend or straight pull hubs.
These spokes are compatible with all standard hub and rim connections and can be trued and maintained like steel spokes. They offer greater strength and fatigue resistance than many other spokes and help improve vibration damping for a smoother ride. A custom coating enhances abrasion resistance.
For installation, double square locking nipples (part # DT647 or PM78470) are recommended but not included. A Berd Supplemental Kit (BO2924), which contains eyelet rods, an eyelet hook, and a hub deburring tool, is required for proper use (one kit per wheelset). Note that Berd spokes do not follow standard spoke lengths, so use the Berd-specific spoke length when building wheels.
