Description
The Berd PolyLight 14g Spoke is a 293mm white spoke designed for building lighter wheels with a lower total build cost. Made using PolyLight polymer technology, it is one of the world’s lightest spokes, saving 100 to 200 grams per wheelset compared to carbon rims. It is compatible with all standard hub and rim connections and can be trued and maintained like steel spokes. The spoke offers greater strength and fatigue resistance than most spokes on the market and improves vibration damping for a smoother ride.
Featuring a 1.8mm cross section for better aerodynamics, each spoke has a custom coating to increase abrasion resistance. The 14 gauge (2.0mm) stainless threaded connection at the rim includes a flat section held with a special tool to prevent twisting. An integral eyelet allows connection to J-bend or straight pull hubs.
Spokes are sold individually. Double square locking nipples (part #DT647 or PM78470) are recommended but not included. Use of the Berd Supplemental Kit BO2924-including eyelet rods, eyelet hook, and hub deburring tool-is required for installation (one kit per wheelset). Because Berd spokes do not use standard lengths, use Berd-specific spoke length measurements when building wheels.
