Description
The Surly Ultra New Rear Hub is designed for rim brake use and features a threaded 10×1 x 120mm rear axle. It comes in silver with 32 spoke holes and uses a J-bend spoke interface. The hub shell is made from forged 6061-T6 aluminum and houses sealed 6901 cartridge bearings. The axle and cones are constructed from 4130 CroMoly and stainless steel, with aggressive knurling on the cones and bolt caps to reduce slippage.
This hub is compatible with both quick release and bolt-on setups. Stainless 6mm bolts are included, but a quick release skewer is not. The hub employs a new axle and cone system with a shouldered axle, making it adjustment-free and easy to service. The cassette body is a threaded standard 1.37″ x 24 tpi. Flange diameters measure 54mm on both sides, with center to flange distances of 31mm (left) and 30mm (right). The hub weighs 310 grams.
