Description
The Berd PolyLight 14g Spoke is a white spoke measuring 266mm in length, sold individually. Using PolyLight polymer technology, it is designed to be the world’s lightest spoke, helping reduce wheelset weight by 100 to 200 grams compared to carbon rims, while lowering overall build costs. It features a 1.8mm cross section for better aerodynamics and a custom coating to increase abrasion resistance.
This spoke has a 14 gauge (2.0mm) stainless steel threaded connection at the rim, with a flat section to prevent twisting during installation. It includes an integral eyelet compatible with both J-bend and straight pull hubs. Truing and maintenance are done the same way as with steel spokes, but the Berd PolyLight is stronger and more resistant to fatigue than most spokes available.
It improves vibration damping for a smoother ride and works with all standard hub and rim connections. Note that double square locking nipples are recommended (not included) and require the use of Berd Supplemental Kit BO2924, which contains necessary tools and components for installation. Because Berd spoke lengths do not follow standard sizing, use Berd-specific spoke length measurements when building wheels.
