Description
The Berd PolyLight 14g Spoke is a 298mm long white spoke designed for building lighter wheels at a lower total build cost compared to carbon rims. Made with PolyLight polymer technology, it is one of the world’s lightest spokes, saving 100 to 200 grams per wheelset. It is compatible with all standard hub and rim connections and can be trued and maintained like steel spokes. The spoke offers greater strength and fatigue resistance than most spokes on the market.
Features include a 1.8mm cross section for improved aerodynamics and a custom coating for increased abrasion resistance. The rim connection is a 14 gauge (2.0mm) stainless threaded section with a flat area held by a special tool to prevent twisting. It also has an integral eyelet for connection to J-bend or straight pull hubs.
Spokes are sold individually and require the Berd Supplemental Kit (BO2924) for proper installation, which includes eyelet rods, an eyelet hook, and a hub deburring tool (one kit needed per wheelset). Double square locking nipples are recommended (sold separately, part # DT647 or PM78470). Note that Berd spoke lengths do not follow standard measurements, so use the Berd spoke length for accurate sizing.
